Office of the Assisted Living Registrar
British Columbia is the first province in Canada to regulate assisted living residences. An Assisted Living Registrar protects the health and safety of seniors and people with disabilities who live in assisted living residences.
This web site contains information on the role of the Assisted Living Registrar and the Community Care and Assisted Living Act. It also explains how to contact the Registrar if you have a concern about an assisted living residence.
Of Interest to Residents
To find a registered assisted living residence in your neighbourhood, see Registered Residences by Community (PDF 205K) or Registered Residences by Health Authority (PDF 204K).
Of Interest to Operators
All public and private assisted living residences must be registered with the Office of the Assisted Living Registrar under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, which came into force on May 14, 2004.
Before completing an application to register a residence, please contact the Registrar to get up-to-date information about the application process.
