There is now a wealth of published studies revealing effective care for patients with chronic disease. Recommendations that draw on the scientific evidence are developed and published by the B.C. Guidelines and Protocols Advisory Committee on behalf of the Medical Services Commission. The first series of performance measures for diabetes was released in June 2002.
