METHADONE TREATMENT FOR HEROIN ADDICTION

One option for treating heroin addiction is methadone treatment. The drug acts as a substitute, enabling users to stabilize their addiction while avoiding the often deadly side effects of heroin.

Physician and laboratory services required for methadone maintenance treatment are covered by the British Columbia Medical Services Plan. The cost of methadone is also covered for people eligible for Pharmacare drug benefits.
