Can I choose not to use PharmaNet?

No. With the province-wide introduction of PharmaNet, all prescription medications dispensed by community pharmacies in B.C. must be recorded on the system. If PharmaNet is to be effective in protecting British Columbians from adverse reactions to medications, the system must track all prescriptions that are dispensed. Otherwise, those most at risk would not benefit from PharmaNet. At the same time, cracking down on prescription fraud and abuse can be successful only if all prescriptions are recorded on PharmaNet.
